An army with the Reconnaissance Force Disposition facing one with Disruption is dealt Surveil the Foe as its primary mission.
The opposing army is not playing the same mission: it is dealt Smoke and Mirrors. Reading only your own card is how a game gets lost from in front.
Reconnaissance against Disruption. Whenever a friendly unit ends a move within range of an objective that has any of the opponent's operation markers within range, those markers are removed. The Surveil the Foe action (Shooting phase, one friendly unit, unlimited uses, completes immediately) surveils one visible enemy unit within 18 inches that has not been surveilled this turn. Surveilled enemy units pay at end of turn - unless every one of them is within range of an objective shielded by operation markers. From the second battle round, the Command-phase check pays for non-home control and for the objective majority, and end of turn pays out while none of the opponent's markers remain on the battlefield.
Primary scoring is capped at 15 victory points in a battle round and 45 across the game.
